WHERE IS THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT?

Today I feel like writing about Christmas considering it is only 3 weeks away. 23 days left and counting down. I ask myself and anyone else where is the Christmas spirit? The sharing, loving, happiness, gatherings, and great food especially. All the things we truly need Christmas time. Well I can honestly say I have a hard time feeling it lately.

It seems to me like the Christmas season is now the "hustle and bustle" season. I mean everyone just shops and shops some more then its here and gone and forgotten about until the the next season. I have not seen any snow. How can it be December and almost Christmas time and no snow? Honestly, I miss the true enjoyment of Christmas.
Spending true together family time. I remember spending my Christmas eves at church remembering the true reason for Christmas or at home playing games, making sugar cookies, watching some old time favorite movies Home Alone or A Christmas Carol with my closest family and friends. I loved sleigh riding until you couldn't even see anything but the distant city lights shining. Sharing memories, creating happiness and being part of cooking big dinners for family and friends.
I miss all these things about Christmas. So lets all remember the true meaning of Christmas and the reason we celebrate it. Spread the joy, love and happiness..

Can anyone relate? Feel free to share your feelings on Christmas on my blog.

To spread some Christmas cheer I posted a little poem I like:

By Giovanni Bassano.

May this Christmas be the first of many,
Each more joyous in our growing love,
Revealing more of happiness than any
Riches might provide or pain remove.
Years flow like an unrepentant river,
Carrying the soil of life away,
Holding far more than they can deliver,
Rushing past the certitudes that stay.
In love there is an instance of forever
So shy and lovely it eludes the eye,
The sense of being home when we're together,
More enduring than a reason why.
As love is born of passion, borne by will,
So may for many years we choose love still.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm going to copy the Bassano poem with a link to your blog.

And you're right, I'm in the holiday spirit. It's about the spirit, not the gifts or the over-obligations. I love looking at lights and the music... I love the wrapping paper and all the goodies. And Santa... I love Santa.

Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.

I guess when we get older, we look around and realise that Christmas is not how we knew it? When I see my nephew and niece, it tells me that Christmas is really for children and that it is our responsibility as adults to show them what it means -- family, love, sharing and giving.

Merry Christmas!
